Menopause: Stepping Up To
Meet The Challenge!

*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***

If anyone tells you menopause isn't a challenging time of life, or that
there are magical cures, or that you should be able to sail through it,
don't believe it! Statstically, only 25% of women in the menopausal
transition don't have a difficult time. That leaves 75% of us out there who
ARE having a difficult time.  There are a host of issues we suddenly find
ourselves addressing, from the physical to the emotional and spiritual -
the daily discomfort, feelings we can't always account for, while our doctors
are telling us, "There's nothing wrong with you" and prescribing tranquilizers
and/or anti-depressants.

There may not be a remedy for every symptom we experience. There's an
acceptance we need to face of all these changes that seem to have suddenly been thrust upon us. There's creating a new mind-set that includes acceptance of the reality that we're not the young whipper-snappers we once were.

There's reinventing ourselves to accommodate the changes plus a great
deal of education -- learning how to relax through meditation and get
through what oftentimes seems more like a war zone than a natural part
of a woman's evolution. Some of the simplest remedies can be tremendously effective -- long walks, quiet times to regroup emotionally, yoga, exercise, 15 minutes with a wonderfully relaxing herbal tea, self-hypnosis, learning to pamper ourselves.

NEXT WEEK'S GUEST - OCT. 10th
A VERY IMPORTANT SUBJECT:
HYSTERECTOMY!

*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***
Oct. 10th, Elizabeth Plourde, C.L.S., M.A.   guests in
Power Surge Live!

Hysterectomy And Ovary Removal: What All Women Need To Know

Elizabeth Plourde, C.L.S., M.A., a licensed Clinical Laboratory
Scientist, with a B.S. in Biological Science, an M.A. in Psychology,
and currently completing her Ph.D., has spent the past decade working
in cutting-edge medical research laboratories. Her research into the
"standard medical practices" offered to women today, and the ability
to convey a new level of understanding for women's health care in the
21st century, plus her own personal experience with hysterectomy. Author of,
Hysterectomy And Ovary Removal: What All Women Need To Know, while dispelling many myths in her book, she discusses how sexual hormones influence the entire body and preserve every woman's life-long vibrant health; how your body has its own built-in anti-oxidants and anti-depressants; why today's "standard medical practices" of tubal ligations, hysterectomies, and ovary removal can set women up for future sexual dysfunction, heart disease, osteoporosis, depression, fibromyalgia, and bowel and bladder dysfunctions; insights into the perplexing decisions regarding HRT and enjoy smoother sailing in your relationships, as both women and their loved ones learn that there are answers for the imbalanced or insufficient hormones, which can alter women's capacity to function in the world.

DENISE LAMOTHE, Psy.D.
VISITED WITH US SEPT. 26TH
TO DISCUSS EATING DISORDERS

*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***

Read the transcript of Dr. Denise Lamothe's Sept. 26th visit

I'm hoping to convince last week's fascinating guest, Dr. Denise Lamothe,
to be Power Surge's Eating Disorder Expert in our Ask The Experts Area
So many of us have a devious, destructive part of ourselves that urges us
to cram food into our mouths long after we have had enough to eat. This
part of ourselves is powerful and tries to sabotage our own most sincere
and ambitious attempts to stop eating compulsively. This ravenous,
despicable monster is known as our “Chew.”

I am fascinated by Dr. Lamothe's book, The Taming Of The Chew: A Holistic GuideTo Stopping Compulsive Eating. If you have any eating issues at all, this is a "must read" book.

Dr. Denise Lamothe, a New Hampshire Licensed Psychologist and
Doctor of Holistic Health, skillfully combines her personal experiences
with those of the many clients she has served for over twenty years to
create a unique plan for regaining control over food and overcoming overeating. According to Lamothe, the only way to “Tame Your Chew” and stop eating compulsively is to first understand the causes of compulsive eating holistically. That is, you need to understand how physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually you are affected by the “Chew” before you can make personal changes on each of these levels.

I am reading this book and it is NOT a diet book!

It is a book for those who have tried dieting and discovered that diets lead to
failure. This unique book helps the reader to make changes physically,
emotionally, socially and spiritually, to come to a healthy weight and to
develop a loving and healthy respect for themselves and their bodies.”

POWER SURGE'S RECOMMENDATIONS

One of the most popular areas of the Web site is the
Recommendations area

Midlife is generally a time of awakening, but not always a gentle
one! By the time most women are 40-something (give or take a
few years), they suddenly find themselves being introduced to an
unfamiliar body, but as their transitional years pass, they will
become more familiar with that body than ever before in their lives.

FIVE SECRETS TO ROMANTIC HAPPINESS

Thanks to ZJSurfer (Power Surge's long-term friend, Zelma),
for posting this on the
Humor, Trivia and Other Distractions Board

1. It is important to find a man who works around the
house, cooks and cleans and who has a job.

2. It is important to find a man who makes you laugh.

3. It is important to find a man who is dependable and
   doesn't lie.

4. It is important to find a man who's good in bed and
who loves to have sex with you.

5. It is important that these four men never meet!

Remember, you don't stop laughing because you
grow old. You grow old because you stopped laughing.

SAFE AND EFFECTIVE SOY PROTEIN
AND ISOFLAVONES FOR THOSE WHO
CAN'T OR PREFER NOT TO USE HRT

*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***

The one thing that eliminated my hot flashes, depression,
fatigue, vaginal dryness, mood swings, lowered my
menopause-related cholesterol by over 100 points and
generally gave me back my life the past 4 1/2 years has
been Revival Soy Protein. I've seen Revival with its 150+
soy isoflavone count help not only me, but thousands of
other women experiencing the typical symptoms of
perimenopause. Soy is SAFE and has been used as a
staple in the diet of Japanese women for thousands of years.
They are considered among the healthiest women in the world.
Soy is effective and reliable, especially for those who can't
or choose not to use hormone replacement therapy. The FDA
approves the use of SOY in lowering cholesterol and providing
general heart health. It's made from non-genetically engineered
soybeans, as are most of the soy products out there and the
isoflavones are taken from the "heart" of the soybean where
they are most concentrated. Read more
