Anxiety-Panic Expert Q&A's
Name: Stefanie

Question:
When I wake at night in the midst of what I assume is a nocturnal panic attack, I am sometimes horribly confused. It occasionally takes me several minutes to figure out where I am. I have had seizures in the past and wonder if I could be experiencing nighttime seizures. Is is common to feel extremely confused, as well as terrified, etc., During a nocturnal panic attack?

Answer:
Hi Stefanie,

Panic attacks can mimic a number of physical conditions, including seizures, and so it is very important that you do not self diagnose.

As you have had seizures in the past, can you to speak with your doctor or neurologist about what you are experiencing ?
