Name: Anita

Question:
I am per I menopausal and using HRT. The HRT helps my hot flashes and helps me sleep. My problem is my stomach, I think I have problems with anxiety and worrying all the time which makes my stomach hurt and I have heartburn. What can I do to help this?

Answer:
Hi Anita

From your post, it sounds as if you are not one hundred percent sure that you do have anxiety. As anxiety symptoms can mimic a number of physical conditions, it is important for you to speak with your doctor to confirm that you have anxiety and it is effecting your stomach and causing heartburn.

One this has been confirmed, then speak with your doctor about cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This is the most effective therapy in the long term for anxiety / anxiety disorders.

Or you can find a CBT therapist on our international referral list web page
