Medical Doctor Q&A's
Name: Jeanette

Question:
I'm 18 years old, not sexually active, and I was just told that I have a 3 cm cyst on my right ovary. Is This normal and will it go away? My doctor told me he might retest me in a few months so should I be keeping track of when I get pelvic pain?

Answer:
A small ovaraian cyst as you describe in not uncommon. Frequently, it will rupture and cause transient abdominal pain. A followup ultrasound would be helpful.
