I am 49-years old and have been having skipped periods and 3-week long gushers. I saw the OB-GYN who ordered a CA-125 was abnormal- 47. He performed an ultrasound and found several fibroids and an ovarian cyst he says looks clear- Uterus was enlarged. He says the elevated test is probably due to the bleeding and fibroids. I'm afraid it's ovarian cancer and told him I would rather have both the endometrial biopsy and biopsy of my ovary. He thinks this is drastic. Would rather put me on progestrin for 7 days followed by a month of low-dose birth control; then repeat the tests. What if it's cancer. Does it sound like it might be?
