Ask Dr. Denise Lamothe Q&A's
Name: Suzy

Question:
I am just going out of my mind, although I have tried every diet and have previously always done well at losing weight, I cannot move it this time.I Am exercising too. I am 47 amd going through menopause, I am not sleeping very well and have very bad night sweats. I weigh 183lbs and am only 5'3, usually about 140 lbs. Do you think bio identical hormones would help?If Not where should I start? My doctor just keeps telling me diet and exercise, I don't think he beleives that I am already doing that.
Thanks In anticipation,

Answer:
Hi, Suzy -- Menopause is, for many, a very stressful time. Hormones can be way out of whack. You might benefit from seeing someone who specializes in these issues. I'd also suggest Christiane Northrup's book, The Wisdom of Menopause. There are also many great resources on the Power Surge website that you can explore. I'd also recommend you check out my book, The Taming of the Chew, for a look at the whole picture. You are so right.... There is much more going on than can simply be taken care of by dieting and exercising more. Best of luck --
