Ask Dr. Townsend Q&A's
Name: Kay

Question:
H I Doctor ... What dosage would you recommend of natural progesterone cream, to help with menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, but also to help with osteoporosis. Had a bone density test 1 year ago which shows spine is borderline osteoporotic. Am 46, small frame, 5'1'' (short!) And in February started having menopausal symptoms. Have taken calcium for 1yr also. Would I also have to take estrogen (estriol) due to the osteoporosis risk, or would the natural progesterone be sufficient? Thankyou!

Answer:
Natural progesterone is insufficient. For the best results I have my patients take a low dose of estradiol, isoflavones to make the estrogen safe as well as natrual progesterone. A low dose of terstosterone is also helpful. This is explained in my book.
