Ask Dr. Townsend Q&A's
Name: Glenda

Question:
Dear Dr. Townsend:

I am a 50 year old who recently went to a NYC physician who specializes in peri/menopause. I have been on Zoloft for 7 years for severe PMS/PMDD (severe depression & anxiety). My periods have recently started to change and I find that I've been feeling really down even with the Zoloft. My new Dr. Prescribed progesterone (100 mg.) In capsules. I am really concerned about taking the progesterone because I have read that it can cause depression in some women. What do you advise????

Thank you.

Glenda

Answer:
Glenda: I would suggest the Dynamic Duo which is fully explained in my book. natural progesterone does not cause depression but progestins do.

Sincerely,

Dr. Townsend
