Ask Dr. Denise Lamothe Q&A's
Name: Denise

Question:
Dear Dr. Lamothe,
I am 49 years old and am about 100 pounds overweight. In the last year I have joined weight watchers and LA Weightloss. I know I need to loose this weight, but just cannot get into doing it. I know I look terrible and hate myself. Why can't I do this?

Answer:
Dear Denise -- It is dificult to lose weight and there are many factors that impact upon anyone's ability to get motivated and do so. Make sure you have a complete physical to rule out organic problems. Then, tell yourself you are worth it. There is much more to this issue than dieting -- you need to attend to your emotions, relationships, spirit and environment as well. There are many suggestions in my book, The Taming of the Chew that can help. To be successful, you really do need to look at the whole picture. I wish you my very best!!

Be well,
