Ask Dr. Townsend Q&A's
Name: Jan

Question:
I read in an article that "near menopause, estrogen levels rise very high and then drop very rapidly. These levels may be up to twice the levels found in a normal menstral cycle." I have been very irregular(3 to 8 months)
for The last 2 years and feeling better than I had in a number of years. Then 4 months after my last cycle I experience signs of a menstral cycle including !extreem! Anxiety, breast tenderness and more vaginal lubrication and then just barely spotted but the tension went away and other than feeling drained am back to normal. Would the burst of estrogen explain it?

Answer:
What really happens is drop in progesterone so one has estrogen dominance. please get my book for a thorough explanation.
