Ask Dr. Denise Lamothe Q&A's
Name: Debbie

Question:
I try and eat right, exercise a few times a week, but at age 52 can not get my tummy to trim up.
Any Ideas?
thanks~

Answer:
Dear Debbie -- It is dificult to lose weight at any age but even more difficult as we get older. There are many factors that impact upon anyone's ability to get motivated to exercise and eat a really healthy diet. Make sure you have a complete physical to rule out organic problems. Then, tell yourself you are worth it. There is much more to this issue than dieting -- you need to attend to your emotions, relationships, spirit and environment as well. There are many suggestions in my book, The Taming of the Chew that can help. You might also look at Elson Haas' books on nutrition. He is a wise teacher. To be successful, you really do need to look at the whole picture. I wish you my very best!! Don't give up!

Be well,
