I'm 47, have just begun to skip a period occasionally. Periods have been light and short for the past 9 years. current symptoms are dry mucous membranes and skin (Sjogren's ruled out), energy swings, receding gums severe for my age, heart arrythmia, occasional weakness/shakiness/fatigue. Have been on low dose Remeron (7.5 Mg/day)for chronic depression and insomnia for 5 years , very helpful. Also natural progesterone-estrogen cream vaginally for past 9 years for urethral burning and vaginal dryness. Feel generally pretty good at this point but wondering about hormone testing to see if anything can help w/dry eyes and mouth. Very chemical and hormone sensitive so don't want to mess with things more than I have to. What tests do I ask for?

At age 47. with the symptoms you describe especially with the skipping of periods, dry mucous membranes, energy swings, and heart arrythmia, you are definitely perimenopausal.
This being said, you need to have supplemental estrogens, progesterone and testosterone given in the proper doses to supplement your own ovaries. They need to be bioidentical hormones by prescription and given in a cyclic manner to continue your menstrual cycles It is not necessary to do testing but if you want to, you would need blood levels of estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone on days 5,12 and 22 of your menstrual cycle.
