Medical Doctor Q&A's
Name: rhonda

Question:
I have fibroids and adenomyosis. The recommendation is hysterecomy however Merina IUD was mentioned. What are up and downs sides to both. Are there any other treatments?

Thank you in advance

Answer:
Both fibroids and adenomyosis will frequently respond to the correct doses of bioidentical progesterone. This can be prescribed by any doctor and is in all drug stores under the brand name Prometrium. The progesterone will shrink the fibroids and also decrease the amount of adenomyosis found in the uterine walls giving less pain and less uterine bleeding.
The IUD is not a proper treatment and whomever told you this is misinformed. A hysterectomy should be used as a last resort only.
