I am 49 and have gone thru menopause in the past 5 years. The only sympton I'm left with that is really awful, and not getting any better, is the inability to have intercourse due to tremendous pain. I have been examined by my gyno and there is nothing wrong other than a thinning of the vaginal wall and a lack of estrogen. I have never had a hysterectomy so everything is still "intact" I've Tried estrogen creme, however, didnt stick with it because I wanted to find a more natural approach as my mother has Lymphomic Cancer. Please Help!!!!

Dear RoxAnne,
It is common to have vaginal dryness after going through menopause as your production of estrogen diminishes. You don't mention any other troubling symptoms so you might just need an estriol vaginal cream. Estriol is one of the 3 natural estrogens that your body produces. It is great when applied locally to the vaginal tissues and helps to relieve dryness, rejuvenate the vaginal tissues, and reduce pain during intercourse. In some cases adding a small amount of testosterone can help even more. I would be glad to make a recommendation for the vaginal cream for your physician. It would be a good idea to start with a consult. Please go to the following link and review the Patient Empowerment Program Information. http://www.bpharmacysolutions.com/hormone/overview.asp. After reviewing the information, complete the online patient history form and submit it to us. We will review the information and call you to set up a consult time. Alternatively, call one of the following numbers and ask to set up a consult with one of our pharmacists. We look forward to working with you. Best regards, Janna Gordon, R. Ph.
