Ask Dr. Denise Lamothe Q&A's
Name: Mel

Question:
We are doing a weight loss challenge at work, and we are trying to decide which is better to judge by: actual pounds lost or percentage of total weight lost. Which is more fair for all candidates considering we have both sexes and a myriad of ages, and weights?

Answer:
What an interesting question..... Since men and women have different weight loss experiences, it really doesn't matter if you look at percentage or actual # of pounds, men usually lose more faster because of their body chemistry. Perhaps you could do this as 2 teams, each having the same # of males and females or 2 seperate challenges -- men challenging men and women challenging women.... Best of luck!
