Weight-Watcher's Expert Q&A's
Name: Sharon,

Question:
I am 54, have osteoarthritis. I fell 3 months ago and broke my right ankle
in Two places and my fibula about five inches above the ankle. I have been unable to exercise because I am just now limping around without a wheelchair or crutches. I need to lose about 50 pounds. Any suggestions how I can get started?

Answer:
Sharon,

Im so sorry about your accident. That you are unable to exercise must present you with a number of difficulties beyond weight loss. My suggestion is that you contact your local chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. They will be able to provide you with a great deal of information and support. You can find the Arthritis Foundation on the Web at www.arthritis.org . I would also encourage you to join a weight loss organization, such as Weight Watchers, where you will receive information about healthy eating and how to eat in order to lose weight. Also in such organizations you are likely to find other people with difficulties like yours which make it impossible or difficult for them to exercise. It is amazing what that kinship can do to aid you in reaching your goals. Give it a shot and let us know about your successes!
