Intimacy Expert Q&A's
Name: Kathy

Question:
I am 52 and menopausal. I no longer have any interest in sex. I've been reading about the possibilty of low testosterone. How do increase my testosterone level? Any other herbs/supplements that may help? Thank You

Answer:
Kathy,

Testosterone and Estrogen operate in balance (along with a number of other biological, psychological, and relationship factores) to create a "healthy" interest in sex and a satisfying sexual relationship. Before any women starts on testosterone (or any other treatment) she should be evaluated by a professional who is familiar with female sexual functioning and the current thinking about the use of these hormones in both pre and post menopausal women. There are currently a number of things we can recommend to women with low sexual desire including the medication Buproprion (Wellbutrin)-- but before starting any program, consult with a health care worker. Dr Alan Altman, (also on Power Surge's expert panel list) offers a wealth of information on this topic. My "specialty" is in the relationship components that enhance intimacy.
