Intimacy Expert Q&A's
Name: Candace

Question:
I would like to know why I cannot feel anything while I have sex. Is their something wrong with my body?

Answer:
Candace,

Sexuality is a mind-body-relationship experience. I'm not sure what you mean when you say you "cannot feel anything" and where the "shut down" is for you, how long you've had this concern,or what factors have contributed to it... (medications; neurological, vascular, or hormonal problems; past trauma, relationship stressors, life stressors, or something else? Sexual functioning is quite complex and all of these issues play a role. You should certainly be able to feel pleasure during sex -- that's the whole point. I suggest you make an appointment with a specialist who can tease out the various factors and make appropriate treatment recommendations for you and your partner.
