Ask Dr. Erika Q&A's
Name: Vicki

Question:
I am 47 and my husband is 67. He is still going strong and thinks he knows everything. I am experiencing some tenderness in my breast and vaginal areas for about a week now. He swears it is not right because he has "talked" to and known many women and never heard of such. Trying to tell him why would any woman just tell you does no good and telling him this is normal is not working either. I have off of the pill for 8 months now and am considering returning for 3 or 4 more years just to ease the tension and keep the peace.where Can I find info to show him that breast tenderness is normal right before/during a period as well as all the possible changes in the body especially breast and vaginal areas for someone who is entering menopause. Thanks

Answer:
Breast tenderness is not normal but very common in women as we age. The tenderness means your body doesn't have enough progesterone to balance the effects of estrogen. Both vaginal dryness and breast tenderness are treatable with natural hormones. The results will make both you and your husband happy.
