Anxiety-Panic Expert Q&A's
Name: Carol

Question:
Female age 57. 2 1/2 years ago I had: tingling in right foot, internal quivering in right arm and palpitations. Three weeks later: at bedtime everything in body began racing for one hour. The next morning I felt wrung out. This occurred three more times throughout the year. Since then I had lesser symptoms on an erratic basis almost always late afternoon or evening - most mornings I feel normal. I also have had months without symptoms. One year after the first attack, I was diagnosed and treated for mild hypothyroidism. I have been losing hair for two years.I Am currently 60 years old. All medical tests have been negative except hormones which are extremely low. Could hormone imbalance (and or thyroid) trigger symptoms similar to panic attacks?

Answer:
Hi, Carol!

Panic attacks can mimic a number of physical conditions. This is why it is so important for people to have their symptoms fully assessed by their doctor.

Can you speak with your doctor again, and discuss your concerns regarding your symptoms and diagnosis.
