Anxiety-Panic Expert Q&A's
Name: Mel

Question:
Hi, For the last three weeks I have been on a roller coaster ride with these panic attacks (not really here) and feelings of anxiety. My doctor prescribed fluoxetine for me and I wake up with upset stomach and jitters. I fear I am losing my mind. All I can think of is what is really wrong with me. I imagine brain tumor etc...I Have no headaches . I t feels like waves of out of control, mostly what is wrong with me. My blood tests are normal, my thyroid is low and I am increasing dose. I stopped taking my estrogen and progesterone cold turkey for a few weeks. I am back on them now. I can't seem to stop worrying or calm myself down, a little of Alprazolam does help. What next? Mel

Answer:
Hi, Mel

We do need to seek the advice of our doctor, before stopping any medication. This is very important.

The feeling of 'not (being) really here" can be one derealisation. Many people who experience panic disorder, have this particular symptom and it can be the reason why people actually panic. For further information on this, can you visit our web page about this :

Have you considered Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This is the most effective therapy in the long term for anxiety disorders.

You can read about this on our webpages
