I went through a very early menopause at age 27. I am now 48 years old. Is it possible to still go through menopausal symptoms at this time given my age?. I have been experiencing similar symptoms of menopause. Thanks,Shelly.

Dear Shelly,
When you went through early menopause, did you have symptoms then or did you start on any medication to help you through this? It is possible that your body was still producing some hormones, and now when you are reaching the average age of menopause, what little production you had is ceasing. I am sure you are aware, but common symptoms include hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, insomnia etc. If you are interested in checking your hormone levels and completing a consultation, please look at the link below. Another thing to consider is symptoms of menopause and thyroid often overlap. If your Physician has not checked your thyroid recently, you may consider getting that checked.
