Pharmacy Expert Q&A's
Name: Pam

I've been using a low dose of bioidentical progesterone cream for four months initially to help with painful periods. I'm 42 and before this treatment weighed below the average. The progesterone cream has been phenomenal for my mood, cognition, and energy level as well as the periods. Alas, it is also making my hair fall out and has increased my weight by twenty-five lbs. Testosterone seems to amplify the above side-effects. I have some Biest but am unsure if or when (in my cycle) to try it, fearful of the brain fog & migraines which come when I try to limit the progesterone. Periods are regular and there are signs that I might be still ovulating. I have no hot flashes yet but some mild depression in the luteal phase. Any insight would be most appreciated!

Dear Pam:

I do believe you are still out of balance, and the best thing to do at this point would be to go online to our patient empowerment program, fill out the history form, and submit it to us. We will then call you for a consultation, and go over exactly what you are doing and what is happening. We will then make a recommendation for therapy to be ordered from our Pharmacy by your doctor. You do need to use the Biest, probably daily, lower the Testosterone and also use it daily, and cycle the progesterone. We can help you figure all of this out during the consultation. If you are using the progesterone daily, it can cause fluid retention and weight gain. Cognition, energy, moods and much more are dependent on the proper amount of estrogen. For now the estrogen (Biest) should be used daily, the Testosterone in a low dose daily, and the progesterone only on days 13 through 27 of the cycle. You should then see improvements, now here is the patient empowerment program to follow.

To learn more about how we can help you get started on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and feel better through our “Patient Empowerment Program” click here or post this in your web browser. This program was developed to assist you in getting started on the natural bioidentical hormones. It empowers you through knowledge and education to approach your physician and get the natural treatment you are looking for. We provide physician referrals, as part of our program.

The patient empowerment program is a full in-depth consultation with a consultant pharmacist whereby we evaluate your symptoms, lab work of your hormones (if performed), and any other pertinent laboratory results via phone consult. We then make an assessment and write a clinical consult note that includes recommendations for natural bioidentical hormones that you can provide to your doctor. If you have already discussed bioidentical hormones with your doctor or if your doctor refuses to prescribe them after reviewing our recommendations, we will provide you with a referral to a physician in your area that will prescribe bioidentical hormones.

We would like to help you feel better, and be your compounding pharmacy in the future. We ship all across the country, and accept hundreds of insurance plans for reimbursement.

After you fill out the consultation form, you will be contacted by one of our consultant pharmacists within 2 business days to set up a consultation. Alternatively, to get started you may call 1-800-728-0288 and request to schedule a consultation with one of our pharmacists or forward an email requests for a consult to We look forward to speaking with you.
