I've been using a low dose of bioidentical progesterone cream for four months initially to help with painful periods. I'm 42 and before this treatment weighed below the average. The progesterone cream has been phenomenal for my mood, cognition, and energy level as well as the periods. Alas, it is also making my hair fall out and has increased my weight by twenty-five lbs. Testosterone seems to amplify the above side-effects. I have some Biest but am unsure if or when (in my cycle) to try it, fearful of the brain fog & migraines which come when I try to limit the progesterone. Periods are regular and there are signs that I might be still ovulating. I have no hot flashes yet but some mild depression in the luteal phase. Any insight would be most appreciated!

I do believe you are still out of balance, and the best thing to do at this point would be to go online to our patient empowerment program, fill out the history form, and submit it to us. If you are using the progesterone daily, it can cause fluid retention and weight gain. Cognition, energy, moods and much more are dependent on the proper amount of estrogen. For now the estrogen (Biest) should be used daily, the Testosterone in a low dose daily, and the progesterone only on days 13 through 27 of the cycle.
