Doctor, I Am 45 years old and for the last year have been having panic attacks, also swelling hands with pain through my shoulders down to my waist. Also tremendous feelings of doom, nausea, and cramping a day before my period. I have had hot flashes and panic attacks for a year already. For the past 7 months I have had the swelling and chest heaviness with palpitations and a racing heart at times some days I feel as though I 'am dying' I feel so bad. What type of therapy is necessary my regular dr put me on progesterone 10mg a day till I can get an appt to see a female Dr. Is this okay in your opinion?He Did no blood work. I just told him I thought that would help me.

I am sorry to hear that your are having a hard time with your symptoms. Just looking at the information you have provided, your symptoms do seem related to a low progesterone level in the 2 weeks prior to your period. However, your progesterone dose of 10mg per day seems low. You could cycle the progesterone with a higher dose (take just the last 2 weeks of your cycle), and possibly benefit from the addition of a low dose of estrogen.
