Pharmacy Expert Q&A's
Name: Pat

Question:
I am post menopausal. I have been having a problem with anxiety for several years and have gained about 20 pounds. I am very sensitive to most medicines and supplements. I tried most of the supplements and have not found much relief some seem to work immediately then things get worse and I get headaches. I have tired DHEA, about 5-6mg twice a day. The smallest pill I could find was 25mg in time release so I cut it into 4 pieces. It worked the first day or two then the anxiety got worse and I got very bad headaches. Yesterday I took it only about 3mg. Still I had anxiety. Does this mean I just can't take it or is there some dosage that may work or, would the type of pill/brand make a difference?

Answer:
Dear Pat:

DHEA is not a diet pill, and for most normal sized women in menopause 3, 4, 5, or 6 mg will not be of much help at all. At this point I suggest you call in to us this coming week and order a saliva test to measure your hormone levels. I suggest to test for: Estradiol, Progesterone, DHEA, and Testosterone; this test can be covered by insurance if you have either Blue Cross or United Healthcare Coverages for only a copay. Once the results come back to you and us, then you go to our patient empowerment program, fill out the history form and submit it back to us, we then will have one of our consultant pharmacists do a consulation with you, and give a natural bioidentical dose suggestion to be ordered from our Pharmacy by your doctor. We do ship everywhere, and accept hundreds of insurance plans for payment of RX's.
I strongly feel that your whole hormone system is out of balance, and the lack of balance can cause weight gain, and not be helped by just DHEA. I do hope you will work with us, and here is the patient empowerment program to follow:

To learn more about how we can help you get started on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and feel better through our “Patient Empowerment Program” click here http://www.bpharmacysolutions.com/hormone/overview.asp or post this in your web browser. This program was developed to assist you in getting started on the natural bioidentical hormones. It empowers you through knowledge and education to approach your physician and get the natural treatment you are looking for. We provide physician referrals, as part of our program.

The patient empowerment program is a full in-depth consultation with a consultant pharmacist whereby we evaluate your symptoms, lab work of your hormones (if performed), and any other pertinent laboratory results via phone consult. We then make an assessment and write a clinical consult note that includes recommendations for natural bioidentical hormones that you can provide to your doctor. If you have already discussed bioidentical hormones with your doctor or if your doctor refuses to prescribe them after reviewing our recommendations, we will provide you with a referral to a physician in your area that will prescribe bioidentical hormones.

We would like to help you feel better, and be your compounding pharmacy in the future. We ship all across the country, and accept hundreds of insurance plans for reimbursement.

After you fill out the consultation form, you will be contacted by one of our consultant pharmacists within 2 business days to set up a consultation. Alternatively, to get started you may call 1-800-728-0288 and request to schedule a consultation with one of our pharmacists or forward an email requests for a consult to info@bpharmacysolutions.com. We look forward to speaking with you.
