Duane Townsend, M.D., a board certified OB/Gyn and Gynecologist for 40 years, was a Professor of OB/GYN and Vice-Chairman, Dept. of OB/GYN at the University of Southern California, School of Medicine. Dr. Townsend introduced to medicine, Endometrial Ablation. Dr. Townsend, "I taught myself Rollerball in 1988 and published one of the first articles in the early 90’s. I have performed several thousand such procedures, but now prefer Cryoablation as it is easier, much safer and can be performed in a physician’s office. I’ve taught both Rollerball and Cryoablation to over 1500 physicians."

Dr. Townsend also introduced Colposcopy, Cryosurgery and was the first to train nurses in the extended role of women’s health care, which led to the development of the first Nurse-Practitioner training program.

Dr. Townsend has authored 90+ papers in peer review journals and 15+ chapters in books, over half of which deal with various aspects of pre-invasive diseases of the cervix, vulva and vagina.

Dr. Townsend is also the author of the book, The Maverick of Medicine Speaks to Women: A World-Reowned Gynecologist's Solution for a Better World in Women's Health Care.
